"The Hammer" was written by Eric Sakai and performed by Second Wind as a rock band for about 25 years, before the band returned to its "acoustic roots" in 2016. The song was inspired by a Japanese proverb that says, "When a nail sticks up, the hammer comes." Check out the music video at https://youtu.be/wRZyMkgLu8E.

“Second Wind enchanted the audience at the old West Brookfield Meetinghouse recently with their renditions of popular folk and blues tunes by musicians such as James Taylor and John Prine as well as original songs. Their energy, enthusiasm, and love for the music was contagious, warming a chilly fall day.”

— Susan Shea, West Brookfield Village Trust
